A guide to recognising your spoons

Yes, here is another amazing spoon-related present that I gave to my brother. I should mention that I also give proper presents on special occasions, not just baffling spoon themed documents.

Odd bits

This is the first of what will probably be many posts featuring odd little pictures that don’t fit anywhere. These two fine specimens of brainfart just popped into my head the other night so I blobbed them out quickly and they turned out quite well. I love all my children, even the strange ones (especially the strange ones.)

A Spoon Fancier’s Miscellany

As some of you may know, I have a brother and, being a person, he has a birthday once a year. I gave him this collectible fanzine along with some proper presents as well, but this was the only one that made him wheeze like a leaky pipe organ with laughter. All the words and drawings are mine, but the photos were caught swimming about the internet.

Johnny Depp

Normally I do pictures over several days depending on how complicated they are but I did this one in about 7 hours today and now my eyes have dropped out.

Okay, so, she’s a dog.

If there is something I have learned this week it is that vector graphics take a very long time to do, but there is something perculiarly soothing about sculpting your shapes and seeing how smooth and nice everything looks at the end. Here is something I’ve been working on for a potential T-shirt design and while I’m quite happy with the result it’s not particularly stylish. I think I’ll have to work on getting some style in there somehow but it’s hard to be expressive with vectors.

Night Surf postcard and DVD cover

Back in 1998 I embarked upon an adventure down in London, attending the University of Westminster studying Film & TV production, and during my booze-addled days and nights I made some very good friends, some of whom have recently banded together to make a short film based on the short story ‘Night Surf’, written by the tall author Stephen King. Here is a promotional postcard I made for the film, and the cover for the DVD, designed in an 80s video nasty style.

Interesting fact: the font for the credits is called Steelfish and is the same font you can see propping up photos of famous Hollywood actors on famous Hollywood film posters. Don’t say I never strive for authenticity.
